Welcome back to Week 2 of the co-collab creative challenge: ROY G BIV!
This week, we are inviting the energy of colors into our lives through one prompt each day. We will be doing all things ROY G BIV: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Yes, the rainbow :)
Today, of course, we are starting with: Red!
Red always captures our attention. It brings out so much energy, excitement, and movement. As well, it conveys a sense of warning and danger, like when something goes wrong on your computer and makes you feel super nervous..
Find and listen to some music that is somewhat relevant to red -- it could have ‘red’ in its title or lyrics, or just make you feel 'red'. Found a ‘red’ themed music video or performance video? Count that in, too. Take as much or as little time as you want.
Here are some of my (Ariel’s) finds:
HyunA - Red
Can’t believe this was six years ago! This was one of HyunA's most iconic comebacks in my opinion. The title speaks for itself -- super bold, wild and sexy.
Red Velvet - Red Flavor
Another super iconic comeback and definitely a top hit for Red Velvet. This song is so refreshing like a freshly squeezed OJ; it puts a smile on your face even when we are starting to say goodbye to summer. As its name suggests, Red Velvet is built around the concept of 'Red' as well as 'Velvet'. Highly recommend checking out their other songs!
f(x) - Red Light
f(x)’s concept was super avant-garde for its time and this song is no exception with intense sci-fi vibes. It was also one of the first choreographies I learned, so this song has a special place in my heart. :’)
Chung Ha - Play
This was Chung Ha’s latest release and you can see her really experimenting with different kinds of music. It feels like a huge playful celebration, and the incorporation of dancesport into the choreography was really just next level.
(G)I-DLE - Put It Straight
Woah, woah, woah. This is a stage performance that I watched over and over again when it came out! The song was a b-side of (G)I-DLE’s so nobody had seen a visual concept of it before. It isn’t necessarily ‘red’ musically but the red dresses they wore was both a strong contrast and ahighlight. Another performance from this show, ‘Queendom’, that was equally memorable, was ‘Lion’. It had such a strong sense of wilderness and feminine power, and I highly recommend it as well.
We’d love to share your top picks on our feed! So excited to listen to the variety of music you will find, and spot some rare gems :)
If you post anything you make during the challenge, use the hashtag #cocollabcreativechallenge so that we could spot and feature you!
